I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE HERE

that's me, Rachel

I'm so glad you've found your way here.

If you're expecting a baby, navigating those early weeks with a newborn, or simply looking for someone to walk alongside you on your journey into parenthood, I'm here for you.

My Story

Now being a doula wasn't something that was already written in the cards for me, it has truly been the biggest transformation of my life and that all started when I became a mum back in 2015. I knew I wanted children at some poiunt in my life, and I had always presumed that would be when I finally figured my shit out. When I had travelled the world, settled down into a career I wanted and when I'd found 'the one'. Well, life had other plans for me. At the age of 24, still living at home and going out with my friends every weekend, I found myself unexpectedly pregnant. It was the biggest shock of my life, but it would be an experience that went on to change the course of my life. Pregnancy was straightforward and relatively easy for the most part, but when it came to birth that was a whole other story. A painful induction, left  unsupported, an unnecessary 'emergency' caesarean, and a three day hellish postnatal stay in hospital left me feeling numb, confused and exhausted. It was an incredibly difficult start to my journey as a mum. But it was during this time that I could see how important it was to have a village around me. If it wasn't for my mum and dad in those early days, weeks and months after birth I don't think I'd have survived.

When I came to have my second baby, with my now husband, 2 and a half years later I'm sad to say things hadn't changed much, and although I managed to get my very much desired VBAC and I felt that 'rush of love' that I felt I'd been robbed of with my firstborn, there was still a distinct lack of care, compassion and kindness in that birth experience. It lead me to question why I'd had experiences like these, and left with me a deep desire to improve the experience of others who would come after me.

So whilst I was on maternity leave in 2018 I decided to go to university at 4 months postpartum to train to be an Antenatal & Postnatal Practitioner with the National Childbirth Trust. After qualifying in 2020 and begininng my work with parents as an anetnatal educator, this then naturally lead me into pursuing my training to be a Postpartum Doula with Doula UK, under the supervision of Nicola Mahdiyyah Goodall (if you don't know her, she's an absolute BADASS in the birth world). Alongside my training with these organisations I have also trained with Traumatic Birth Recovery as a 3 Step Rewind Practitioner, Love Your Birth as a Hypnobirthing instructor and with Sally Scott in Biomechanics for Birth. I also continue to update and further my knowledge and skills every year through various CPD workshops and trainings.
