We’re half way through the Easter break, and I’m coming at you now with the final instalment of my Easter Days Out blogs. If you’ve not checked out the previous posts there is one dedicated to free activities and another for low cost/budget days out.
In this blog I’ll be listing some of the days out I can personally recommend or that I’ve come across that look great and are perfect if you’re looking to spend a little bit more, but still get great value for money.
Partridge Lakes, Warrington - Easter Trail

I discovered Partridge Lakes a few years back on instagram and our first trip out there was the Halloween Lakeside Light Trail (which is amazing btw). Since then we’ve been back several times during the spring/summer and back to the Halloween trail again last year.
This week they are hosting an Easter Trail around the lakes and I’m sure it will be absolutely gorgeous, like all their other events. The food and drink here is great and they often have pop up food trailers as well as their own grub. Pram friendly & dogs allowed it’s a good day out for all.
Kids - £15
Adults - £4.50
Under 2’s free
Mother Shiptons, Knaresborough

I have my girl Sophie to thank for finding this gem. She told me about it last year as she’s been visiting for a while now and when I checked it out I knew we had to go. It isn’t that local as it’s in Knaresborough but if you don’t mind the drive out, you can make a full day out of it as there’s lots to do at Mother Shiptons and Knaresborough itself has loads to explore.
The attraction itself is wonderful, set in the woodland by the side of the water, it’s such a beautiful setting and petrifying well is so interesting. The place has lots of history and we all loved learning about the story of Mother Shipton. But throughout the year there are so many gorgeous seasonal themes and the Easter one is no exception. Lots of beautiful decorations as well as character interactions, and we’re not talking about a cheesy Easter bunny, they have proper actors as the Mad Hatter etc. it’s good for all ages. We took a picnic with us to save money but there are a couple of little snack and hot drink kiosks which we purchased from and the gift shop is well worth a visit. I’m desperate to go back this year to their Halloween or Christmas events because they also look fabulous.
£39 for a family of 5
RHS Bridgewater

Another year round favourite, another gal pal to thank for introducing us to this place (thanks Sadb!!!). This really is a place that all the family can enjoy from babies, right up to great grandparents. I think it’s wonderful. Although there is an admission price for the garden, Salford residents can enter for free on Tuesdays and anyone in receipt of Universal Credit can enter for a £1 entry fee. Children under 5 go free.
A couple of reasons why I love this place are:
You can literally spend all day here, and I have done before. There’s so much to do and explore.
The outdoor play areas are brilliant. Woodland play park, fairy village and den building keeps my four entertained all day.
You can take a picnic to keep it budget friendly.
The food on site is really good quality and totally worth the money (TIP- the kids portions of an adult meal in the cafe are £5 and are really generous. I’ve ordered for myself before. Thanks Sadb again for the tip). They also do woodfired pizzas now at their second cafe and they look delicious.
They do lots of great free or low cost activities during the school holidays.
It’s a day or being outdoors, appreciating the beauty of nature. Lots of fresh air for the kids.
Anyway for the Easter holidays there are lots of activities running throughout the week such as Easter craft workshops, grown your own rabbit food and giant bubble show to name a few. There is also a giant Easter egg hunt (£2.50) where children receive an Easter egg at the end for cracking the code.
Admission charges vary. Under 5’s free. Universal credit recipients £1. £2.50 for Easter egg hunt.
Dearden Wood Campsite, Edenfield.

Ok. So I’m slightly biased here, but I think Dearden Wood Campsite is one of the most beautiful places we have in our local area. I came across this venue when searching for somewhere to host my Nature Babies classes back in 2022 and I’ve been in love with it since.
This year Jessy, the site owner, is throwing an Easter Special for all the family which includes an Easter egg hunt and a pizza for each person that attends. If you’ve not tried the pizza here, you’re missing out. It’s a real community feel at the site as everyone parks in the village, walks up to site and sets out their chairs/blankets on the grass. People can bring their own drinks and sweet treats up to enjoy with their pizzas, it’s fab!!! Details of the Easter event and how to book are on the image below. And if you’ve don’t get there this Easter, make sure to visit over the summer.

Hesketh Farm, Skipton

Another one that’s a bit further out, but I do love a bit of an adventure, it reminds me of going on days out when I was little. This for me is the best play farm we’ve ever been to and the prices are really reasonable. There’s lots to do in the actual farm part, especially hands on stuff for kids like brushing the guinea pigs, feeding the lambs and holding the chicks and there’s a little timetable as you walk in telling you what time things are happening. But the best part of the farm is the outdoor play area. It is absolutely HUGE and it’s so nicely done. Plenty of picnic tables with stunning views of the surrounding countryside, a massive clean sandpit and a play area to die for. And it’s for these reasons that you can easily spend the day here there’s just so much to do. There’s a cafe on site too if you’d rather not take your own food up there and everything is just really easy to navigate. When I first went up there I was 6 months pregnant and I took Elliott and Scarlett up there on my own and it was a nice, easy day out.
They have a little Easter egg trail on for no extra charge running over the Easter holidays, making it a really good value day out.

Bowland Wild Boar Park

I’ve driven past this place so many times before when I’ve been to other places and I’m annoyed with myself that I’ve still not tried it out. Again, it’s a bit of a drive out but it looks like the kind of place you could spend all day at.
One of the reasons I’ve chosen it for my Easter list is because there are so many extra activities happening over the Easter holidays such as bubble shows, face painting, Easter trail and games. The other is the value for money. As a parent of four, costs can build up easily and I begrudge paying huge amounts for mediocre days out or something that’s over and done in an hour. A family ticket costs £35 and under 2’s go free which I think is really reasonable. I’m definitely going to try this one out in 2025.
So here you go. The final instalment of the Easter days out saga!!! I really do hope you all have a fantastic Easter week and fingers crossed these ideas have helped. Let me know in the comments if you try out any of the places. I’d love to hear about your adventures.
